Sierra Lodge – Creel, Chihuahua, Mexico
A Unique Experience…Rustic Elegance!

This is the perfect place for hikers and folks who want to unwind without the distractions of TV, computers and telephones. This is rustic elegance - without electricity! Each guest room is cozy, with two double beds, a private bathroom with hot shower and huge terry towels. In the evening, kerosene lanterns cast a warm glow on the log walls and pot belly stoves warm the rooms. Head over to the dining room and relax next to a roaring fire in the stone fireplace as you sip a margarita and wait for dinner to be served family style. This is your hideaway!  

Every season has its own special appeal at the Sierra Lodge. Hiking in the vicinity of the lodge is ideal in every season. The Cusarare River is right out the front door and a walking path leads to the Cusarare Waterfall. In late summer and fall, the canyons are especially green due to regular rainfall. In winter and early spring, the days are generally sunny with daytime temperatures ranging from 45 to 70 degrees. Nights are frosty with temperatures in the 30's, and snow can blanket the canyons. By late February and early March, the meadows are covered with sprinkles of yellow, purple and red flowers. Roberto, the manager at the Sierra Lodge, can arrange Tarahumara hiking guides for you for an additional fee.

Sierra Lodge Price: $90 US per person per night.
Price Includes: Lodging, margaritas at dinner and 3 meals. You can bring your own liquor or purchase wine and beer at the lodge.
Getting to the Sierra Lodge from Creel: Arrangements for transportation from the train station in Creel must be made in advance. The cost of this service is $35/each way for up to 5 people. It is also possible to rent a Nisson standard transmission crew cab truck (5 passenger) for $130/day in Creel. This will give you more flexibility to explore the canyon at your leisure.

Batopilas - The Riverside Lodge

The Riverside Lodge is a fascinating 100 year old hacienda that has been modernized. Situated in the heart of Batopilas, it is an island of tranquility with multiple courtyards overflowing with bougainvilleas and rooms filled with antiques. Children under 12 are not permitted due to the nature of the layout and furnishings.

Riverside Lodge Price: $150 US per double room per night - 2 night minimum stay.
Price Includes: Lodging only with no meals. There are restaurants located near by.
Getting to the Riverside Lodge from Creel or the Sierra Lodge: Arrangements for transportation from the train station in Creel or from the Sierra Lodge must be made in advance. The cost of this service is $400/roundtrip for up to 5 people. It is also possible to rent a Nisson standard transmission crew cab truck (5 passenger) for $130/day in Creel. This will give you more flexibility to explore the canyon at your leisure.

Batopilas - Real de Minas

Located near the plaza, it has 8 rooms, private baths, and has a handsome traditional courtyard..

Real de Minas Price: $70 US per double room per night.
Price Includes: Lodging only with no meals. There are restaurants located near by.
Getting to the Real de Minas from Creel or the Sierra Lodge: Arrangements for transportation from the train station in Creel or from the Sierra Lodge must be made in advance. The cost of this service is $400/roundtrip for up to 5 people. It is also possible to rent a Nisson standard transmission crew cab truck (5 passenger) for $130/day in Creel. This will give you more flexibility to explore the canyon at your leisure.

Divisadero Lodging

The Divisadero train stop is the only stop where you can get an inspirational view of Urique Canyon in the Copper Canyon. Hiking is available from the lodges and tours to Creel can be arranged.       
       
Divisadero Lodging Prices: Range between $176 - $269 for a double room.
Price Includes: Lodging, 3 meals and pickup at train station
 
Los Mochis - Hotel Santa Anita

Los Mochis is the starting point of the famous Copper Canyon Railway (the Chepe - Chihuahua/Pacific railroad). 
Stay at the Santa Anita, a full service hotel. At 5:15 a.m. a bus takes guests to the train station ($10/pp).

Santa Anita Price: $125 US per night for a double
Price Includes: Lodging only.


El Fuerte - Hotel Posada del Hidalgo 

El Fuerte is a picturesque colonial town with lots of ambience and Spanish architecture. 
The Posada del Hidalgo was once the home of a rich silver mining family. It has beautiful interior gardens, a swimming pool, restaurant and bar.

Hotel Posada del Hildago Price: $138 US for a double room, taxes included.
Price Includes: Lodging only.
Cerocahui Lodging
A short drive from the Bahuichivo train station  is small village set in a valley of apple and peach orchards and surrounded by pine trees. It is also a great spot for hiking and bird watching. 
Horse back riding and tours to the bottom of the canyon can be arranged
Cerocahui Lodging Prices: Prices range between $165-$238 US for a double.
Prices include: Lodging, 3 meals and pickup at the train station.
Chihuahua Lodging

 Drive, fly or take a bus to Chihuahua in preparation for a 6 a.m. departure on the famous Copper Canyon Railway (the Chepe - Chihuahua/Pacific railroad).
 Chihuahua is a city of over 600,000 and is worth a visit to see  its cathedral and historic buildings linked to the Mexican Revolution.

Chihuahua Hotel Prices: Prices range between $70-$130 US for a double.
